Have a 1967 ford 3000 need to know why it has no down pressure. It will not lift the front tires off the ground.Hydraulic fluid is half way up the reservoir. Also put a different pump on front and still the same way. Thanks if anyone can help

Some loaders just don't have down pressure. Do your cylinders have two hydraulic lines going to each of them? If not, you have one-way lift cylinders. Another possability is that your valve is set to let the cylinders 'float' rather than put prressure on the down stroke. I run my valve like that for planting corn. There's a screw on the front of the valve for adjusting for 'float' or pressure.

Did you have down pressure before? If the tractor is new to you, you need to look at the cylinder diameter and the rod diameter. Theoretically, if the cylinder is 2 inch diameter then you have a greater volume of hydraulic fluid pushing the rod out across the diameter, however when the rod in being retracted, ie down pressure, the diameter of the cylinder is minus the diameter of the rod, thus less volumne of hyd fluid and less pressure or force is being applied and may not be enough to lift the tractor. I have the same problem with my cylinders. Hope this makes sense to you.

I assume that you are familiar with the "float" position on your loader control valve? The handle for the arms has 4 positions: Lift - pull handle back (handle will want to return to hold position), Hold - middle position (handle stays in place), Lower - push handle a little forward (handle will want to return to hold position) & Float - push handle way forward (handle will stay there). In "lower" you would have down pressure, in "float" you would not have down pressure. Please accept my apologies if this is stating something that is already obvious to you, and the problem is something else!
