Howdy all, sure am glad I found the forums.
I proudly own a 1967 3000 diesel, she's been mostly restored from her prior gig in a broiler shed. Sure is a workhorse and we love her, it's our first tractor.
Last month I installed a bush hog for mowing our parcel and so far so good. Strong tractor, good performance. The lift arms are a little slow to go but so am I some days, and she's nearly as old as I am.
My main question for you all is on the PTO shifter - I'm having a hard time engaging the PTO with the engine running. I have the 8-speed trans., and a two-stage clutch. Maybe the PTO shifter's hung up from not being used prior to us, dunno. Can't seem to get the PTO from disengaged to engaged with the engine running.
So I start the PTO up - engaged - with no problem and set to mowing. But I'd sure like to know if there are some things I could do to enable correct operation. One of the posts I read when searching mentioned tying down the clutch pedal when not in use in an effort to break it loose. Is that valid? Also looking for any other pointers you may have.
Thanks in advance to you all.
