3000 steering gear assembly

Im attempting a steering gear box renewal on my
3000. Ive got it removed and broken down for
cleaning and inspection, I removed 2 bushings and
seals from the holes the steering arms come out
from and tried to find a part number for
replacements. To my surprise they were not shown
in the diagram. What am I missing? Attached is a
pic of the diagram showing where I removed the
bushings from. Any ideas on how to get a part
number for these. Thx. Dan

The shaft seal is #51 and dust seal is #59. As far as bushings they are not a service part so have to have them made. Repair manuel says if worn, replace housing.

My 2000 was leaking. I got new lip and felt seals. The new felts were less than 1/4 inch thick, the originals were at least 1/2 inch. My guess, some clown sitting on his thumb in some office decided both parts were about the same so one was eliminated as a cost reduction.

I'd put them back in if they're not too damaged from the removal process. I've never seen them worn enough to warrant replacing in the first place.

You'd better buy 3 of those little oil seals as they are hard to put in without mashing them. I've bought several pairs of them at my local bearing house. They had to order them in but they were cheap.
File a good chamfer on the end before you try to start them.
Shaun's comment is correct according to my I&T manual. I did not look in the big Ford manual.
But there is some kind of a discrepancy here. There IS a bushing in there.
See photo.
I would lay pretty good odds that it is the same size as the one in the cap on the other end of the sector shaft. Don't have a cap (or shaft) here to measure one. Maybe someone here does and can measure them.
I would also bet they are a standard bushing and could be bought at any bearing house cheaply.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, they came out easily and dont look to be damaged. No way to tell if theyre worn or not though. Ill measure the shaft and the bore and if I cant find a replacement Ill put them back in. Thx.

UD, thx Ill get extra seals...as far as the bushings in the cap I dont see one listed for those either except that big one they call a bushing driver. Maybe best to take all the parts to bearing house and have them size them for me.
Thx again. PS. Hows the food plots coming along this year?

Plots are a sad story this year.
I planted rutabaga in 3 places back about the 15th? of May.
Since then they've had about .7 inch of rain up there. Real dry here in the Twin Cities too but I don't much care if my lawn dies. My plots on the other hand...
Am thinking I will have to disc them under and put in some rye mid/late August.
Hope for some moisture late summer, early fall.
How are yours?

3 corn plots and 2 clover, just the opposite for me, too much rain washed all the nitrogen out so the corn is looking a little weak. It might come out if it. I might disc one up and try some turnips. Clovers not bad but weeded as hell, dont guess my little furry friends will mind though.
