3000 wont start

I know you have to have fuel combustion and spark. Is
there a systematic and easy way to check for each? It
got to where it wouldnt start unless you gave it a squirt
of ether. Only did this a few times this spring. Last time I
used it quit and now wont start at all. A multi meter is my only diagnostic tool own a basic tool set.

I always check spark first. You need a spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap at the center wire of the cap and at the spark plug wires that is blue/white in color.
Next I pull the carb drain plug and make sure I get a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes

Agree with you on checking spark.
But wrong advice on a 3 cylinder Ford for filling the pint jar. They have a fuel pump located on the timing cover so you would be a loooong time waiting to fill your jar.
