3010 carburator

I have a 3010 gas tractor. It will run fine just sitting. their. When I start to go up a hill or put it under load it will start to lug down. The other thing that it will do is idle up on its own. I can slow it down by moving the rode by the carburetor.

What should I be doing? Should I try to adjust the carburetor or should I clean and lube the rode? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Brad.

Clean and lube the rod, then adjust it if necessary so the governor can work properly.

The basics of setting it's length is to have the length so the carb is wide open JUST BEFORE the giver lever reaches the end of it's movement in the "wide open" direction.

Then, adjust and clean the carb as needed to get some power out of it.

Need to check screens, as well.
