3010 Power Shift won't start

I have a friend who has a relatively rare 3010 Gas Utility with PowerShift. It won't start or even turn over, but I was out at this place last night and was able to get it started by holding key over to right to start position and jiggling with the PowerShift lever between Park and Neutral. Is there a bad switch or connection there that would cause this?? It will start (Sometimes) when you jiggle the shifter??
Thanks, Cmore

If I had a true factory 3010 with a powershift transmission I'd be calling the Keller's for an offer of BIG $$$$$$$$$$.

All JD 20 series powershift trans equipped tractors had 2 neutral start switches. One NS switch was on clutch pedal inching valve and the other NS switch was on the RH side of trans.

Not all had 2 neutral start switchs I have a 1965
3020 and the only switch on that is on the inching
pedal. This tractor has been owned by my dad since
new and if you have your foot down on the pedal the
shift lever can be anywhere and it will start.
Unless the tractor was a put together from 2
tractors I think you have a 3020

I suppose your Dad bought a unique '65 3020 powershift tractor because JD parts cat. # 858 for an early 3020 equipped with a PS trans shows a wiring pigtail(part # R34869 WIRING HARNESS) for 2 neutral safety start switches that splits to go to both side of the tractor. Here's some reference pages if you care to look it up on JDparts.com. RE38390 SWITCH AR NEUTRAL START, (SUB FOR R36265, AR85323 OR AR89691) (1 USED SYNCRO-RANGE, 2 USED POWER SHIFT)

I see it says two for powershift But the only wires
under the platform on this tractor are Lite wires
the only wire on the left side ahead of the inching
pedal go to that safty switch and nowhere else The
tractor has never had any work done behind the
engine. except to be took apart to be painted by us
and there is not or has there ever been another
safty switch on it.
