GOT AN OLD JOHN DEERE 301A INDUSTRIAL TRACTOR AND I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MODEL YEAR..

SERIAL# 301AD 388772T...

Tractor Data doesn't give serial number lists of most industrial equipment. The 301A was built 1974 to 1985. To pinpoint the exact year, you will need to ask your JD construction Equipment Dealer or find someone with a construction equipment guide with years and serial numbers. I will guess it is about a 1982 machine from comparing your serial number to some others. As far as getting parts, you have the serial number which is used for part breaks. The year is not used.

John Deere Parts shows the 301 as built 1971 to 1973. The 301A is shown as built 1974 to 1985. TractorData says 1971 to 1973 for the 301 and 1974 to 1981 for the 301A. A common thing with construction equipment vs farm tractors, is the lack of openly published serial number lists. Lists from different sources will often have different dates as seen here.

Either way, the list cannonball has puts yours in about the same vintage as I put it. A dealer should be able to get the actual date if needed for some reason.
