3020/3010 engine swap

Only issue is you will need to change the fuel shut off on the injection pump as a 3010 uses a stop cable and the 3020 is part of the throttle linkage.I have changed a 3010 engine to a 3020 as well as a 4020 engine to a 4010.

I dont want to hijack your post but can anyone tell me whats involved in putting a motor from a 3010 diesel into a 3020 gas. I have a gasser that needs overhauled but can get a whole 3010 rollover reasonable. Thanks.

It should be easy , just simple things to change , throttle linkage to injector pump, change choke cable to a shutoff for pump, add a cold start aid on dash if you want it 'ether'.. biggest thing I'd do is if 3010D is not already 12 volt , 'convert it' , will make wiring much easier to change.. you should be able to get most everything you need from 3010...

Make sure you get the diesel flywheel with your engine. Like said below you will need to get different linkage for the throttle controls inside the dash. We did one three years ago and the hardest part was all the roll pins inside on the dash linkage as the are real hard to get to. One change I would make is to replace the 3010 fuel filter assembly with either a late style glass filter assembly or one from a 4020 that uses the spin on fuel filters. Tom

One other thing is the diesel uses a larger aircleaner. We changed ours to a dry one but an oil bath from a salvage yard should not cost much or if it is a chore tractor you might not need to change it just service a little more often. Tom

Thanks for the help. I haven't completely made up my mind if that is what i am going to do or not. I can buy the complete 3010 cheaper than i can even buy the overhaul kit for the 3020. As long as there is no major surprises it seems like that would be the way to go.
