3020 Diesel surges

Had the injector pump rebuilt and is has run good. It has gone to surging just off idle until middle speed. Is there an adjustment on the pump to control this?

Nope but extremely worn cam/crank gears and worn oil pump/cam gears will cause it when there's excessive backlash in the pump drive system.

Is the diaphragm lift pump working?

Does it act the same if the fuel tank is full vs. nearly empty?

Is fuel tank venting properly? Check for good fuel from tank to inj pump.

Is air getting into the fuel on the supply side of the injection pump?

One other thing to check is your foot throttle working correctly I’ve seen them in all sorts of states of repair causing a couple things from sticking to wot to no response especially if it’s not used often

Even had one where customer had removed pedal and the linkage still causes trouble
