3020 diesel

I have a 65 model 3020 diesel that dont start as good as it used to. A few days ago it would start as soon as you push the button but here in the past two days you have to pull it full throttle for it to start. It takes it several turn overs before it kicks off kinda like it has air in the system. Any suggestions. Thanks!

Change the fuel filters, check the air filter.

First thing I would do is remove the line coming from the tank at the small pump to see if the line is restricted. If so blow it out backwards with an air blow gun.If the small pump has a glass bowl on it,clean it out.Could be the check valve in the pump has gone bad. Try operating the primer pump and see if that helps.That should tell you if the check is good or bad.

How long has it been since the injection pump was rebuilt the last time ?

I just had a 4020 with hard starting and running eratic. I thought for sure it was the governer ring, but turned out the plungers are scored and stuck. I dont know why it even run.
