Soo, someone needs to explain to me why age of thread makes any difference at all on usefulness and accuracy of information.
The statement of 'this thread is old so it should be locked and never used again" makes zero and i mean zero sense to me. I equate this to throwing out any and all books simply because they were created/written greater than 6 months ago. Do those who subscribe to the old is crap when it comes to threads ever look at a book? Shall we chuck and burn every tech manual ever written for anything over 6 months? Lets throw away the Bible too, it's waaay too old to be of any use today......
Is the theory of operation not the same? Isn't the logic the same?
I do NOT get it. Never have, never will. If the thread is pertinent to the subject, why is it frowned upon to pull up one from any time frame?

No, I don't need to hijack the thread, just simply don't understand the thinking that produces the action.

I wouldn’t throw any of the info away at all some of the threads are pure gold and I reference super old ones at least weekly. A lot of it written by people who are gone. Searchable by anyone on the internet.

I imagine some of the posters who have been here a long time get a sleeper thread in their notifications at least 2 times a week. Haven’t been here that long and they are appearing in mine.

I would completely concur. Are we not dealing with antique equipment here folks? Why would older threads be any less use to the group? I am involved in many other similar forums for antiques and there is no issue with old threads.

Gas engines only need enough starter to rotate the engine . What is required is a battery and cables/connections that will keep the system voltage high enough to fire the plugs . While the starter is dragging the voltage down .

Hi, I would agree, however I would like to note that my old gaser has already been modified with new, short, 1/O or larger positive and ground cables, and a huge Group 8D battery. I still have the original starter, which many here tend to agree is underpowered resulting is a slower rotation that often isn't enough even with hydraulic tricks like shaking the wheel etc. I am trying to determine the very best aftermarket alternative that will provide more torque, and hopefully result in much faster cranking which should help with poor starting. By the way, I have electronic ignition, beefier coil, new plugs and wires etc. This '72 tractor also has the newest Zenith FYI.

Suspicious of the front hydraulic pump is dragging. .Install a de-stroker and try again .
