3020 gasser help

I have narrowed down the rough running on my 3020 gas to an electrical problem. I am wondering if it is my coil, wiring or both? The tractor runs great at times and the next time it runs rough. The latest (yesterday) the generator light would come on and it would not shut off with the switch. The switch, generator, points, condensor, spark plugs, and wires are all new. I am thinking it is the coil, even though it is only about 4 years old.

You may have multipule problems ?

What carb. does it have on it ? the Marvel Schebler aluminum one ?

The carb is a Zenith with a new kit and float.

Have you checked the distributor shaft and bushing wear. Sounds like a problem we had years ago. Points just were not consistent due to the worn distributor. Put a timiming light on and see if your light dances all over or if it is very steady. If you can wiggle that shaft you can't set the points.
