3020 steering question

I have a 3020D that when the jd58 loader is being used and the tractor is sitting still I can't turn my front wheels very far either way. As soon as I start moving then I can turn the wheels as far as I need to. Any thoughts would help. It just started doing this, so I changed trans filter, bleed steering valve and still get the same problem.

I would suggest to check stand-by pressure and set it to 2250-2350 psi. John is correct if your tractor has Syncro-range trans then sitting with foot on clutch pedal stops trans pump from supplying oil to the frt pump.

The 20 series loses its hydraulics in a short time with the clutch depressed. The 58 loader is also longer than say a 48 or 148.3020s are 12in shorter than a 4320 and 6 in less than a 4020 which puts some extra weight on front.

You could have a leaking scv and/or rockshaft valves leaking oil to sump. With the clutch pedal depressed the trans pump stops so the reserve oil in the oil cooler is used up quickly.

In addition to the loader adding weight to the front end, what size tires are on the front? Wide tires will make it harder to steer with the extra weight. Also, check the condition of the spindles and thrust bearings. It would be a good idea to check standby pressure. Could be any of the items listed in any of the replies or a combination of several problems.
