310 LP head

how big of intake valve can I go to ? Will 2 inch work or can I go bigger? Is there an after market rod that will work with a standard bore and stroke? Everyone says that the 310 rod is junk. Thanks

The factory rod is not inherently week and can stand up to a fair amount of power if properly reconditioned. Search the archives of the Oliver board for past discussions.

That being said, there are times and places where billet steel, aluminum or even titanium rods are appropriate (high rpm, turbocharging, etc.). What type of class are you planning on running in and what type of rules do you run under
