310a reverser

got a 310a backhoe that takes 4 to 5 minutes to go in to forward gear upon initial startup, reverse goes in immediately.put a gauge on the reverser and sure enough, upon initial startup pressure in neutral is 130,reverse is 130,but forward is zero.after 4 to 5 minutes i watched the gauge finally rise to 120 and the forward gears would engage.after initial engagement all gears work properly with no slippage.does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be.thanks for looking, sbarrett

i've got a similar problem with a JD350B dozer...it takes awhile to "prime" for lack of a better term...i been told it could be anything from a small leak thats allowing fluid to drain from reverser to hardened seals that need fluid heated up so they soften enuff to seal...mine wont move either direction tho...so far it hasnt gotten any worse and dozer operates as it should once it picks fluid up...been using it as is for past 10 years.

First ,Are we using the correct oil and have we changed the filters ??Then, make sure the reverser lever shifts the shift spool..You will be able to hear the clicks when changing F-N-R ranges with the engine off.If you hear the detents working , you probably have a serious leak at the forward clutchpack sealing rings and bushing or piston seals leaking..To repair this , the machine will have to be split between the engine and reverser housing..

yes,all filters and fluid have been changed, and shifter seems to be working properly, geuss i have my work cut out for me,atleast it is still useable the way it is,thanks for helping sbarrett

i changed both of the large hydraulic round filters, but don,t know about a reverser filter.if there is another filter, where might it be located.thanks
