311B Hand Clutch

A few years ago I bought my 311B LP not running. Before I got it running, I opened each drain plug to check for water and a pin fell out the torque tube drain. The tractor has triple range, remote outlets and optional 3-point lift. The inside hydraulic hand control lever is broke off and previous owner had connected the outside lever to control the 3-point lift and disabled/removed the remote valve linkage. Originally I thought the pin that fell out, approximately 1/4" x 1", had something to do with the disconnected remote hydraulic but now think it is a clutch lever link pin from the hand clutch. The hand clutch works okay so PO may have replaced the missing pin. My questions are: 1. Would the hand clutch work with a link pin missing? 2. Can I see if the pin is missing by removing the triple range cover? 3. What other models use the same inside hydraulic hand control lever (G1103 in parts manual)? 4. Where can I get a replacement lever?

That pin holds the linkage for the over-center clutch linkage. There are 3 fingers, 6 links and 3 each of two different length pins that hold the linkage together. Apparently the pin you pictured fell out, and maybe replaced, but who knows. You will readily be able to see the total clutch assy. when you pull the cover.
Perhaps Joe will chime in with a pic of the clutch assy.

Most of the over-center linkage is under the ledge but you can see it ok if your oil is clean.

Thanks for the information. There is a hydraulic lever for a Case 530 listed on eBay that looks the same as the one I need. Will it fit my 311B?

If the one on ebay is off the 1960-64 530 ag or utility tractor it is the same p/n G1103 as 311B. Check the link.

Just another notation here. Notice the direction that the pins were installed from. The top pic is correct. Bottom pic is wrong. The heads of the pins should be drawn into the mechanism as engine rotates CC when looking from rear. If installed the other way the cotter pins will eventually ware off, and pin will fall out.

Thanks Loren, as many deficiencies I have written on items like that in ship construction you would think I wouldn't have missed it.
