I posted a while back about my hydraulic deck being slow to raise. The filter was new so I did not change it. The filter was a Fram that the previous owner installed. I wondered if perhaps the Fram filter was the problem so I purchased a filter from Deere. Problem solved... The deck lifts quickly now. It seems as if something must be different about the fram filter. It just didnt work well....
Just wanted to report back to all the guys that had suggestions for a fix. Thanks for the help!
I just finished a repower on the 318 with a Vanguard. It is GREAT! Quiter, uses much less fuel and has way more power than the Onan. The new engine came with a new clutch which has a slightly larger sheave than my original. It spins the deck faster and mows better than ever. I cant speak for the longevity of the Vanguard but the sort term has been great! At this point I would reccommend it to anyone with a smoking Onan.
