318 with no hydraulics

My jd model 318 suddenly won"t raise or lower the deck. The wheels turn great, but not uppy or downy with the deck. The tranny sightglass is full, unless i"m on an incline, in which case it"s not so full. It seems that the past few times it did operate properly the hydraulic lever had to be in the correct position exactly for the hydraulics to the deck to be off.

Any constructive advise would be appreciated.

Sometimes that oil level tube will be oil stained giving a false reading. Suggest changing the hydraulic oil and the hydraulic oil filter for a start.....

Do you have a diverter valve on the tractor to switch between front and rear hydraulics?
Did some one adjust the rear cylinder travel stop?

Good luck,

Joe

No adjustments were made on the hydraulics, they just stopped working. Don't know about the diverter valve, help me to find out where it would be located. This is a stock John Deere, no mods have been made to it.
