Bought a non running 318 b series engine serial # 363806. Changed carb,fuel tank,lines,was running like a new . First time I used it ,it would run mabey 10 minutes and die like you would have turned the key off,wait a few seconds and it would run ,it would do the same thing again. Used it the second time it run fine,been that way every for the last six times I used it, went yesterday and the battery was dead. Charged the battery and put it back in, hook up the positive cable, went to hook up the negative and had a white spark. I have unhooked the cable going to the starter,does the same thing. Does the time delay module have power to it at all times. Thanks for your help.

Been a lot of trials and errors but think I found the problem, one of the stator wirers was rubbing the engine sheet metal. I suppose that sent battery voltage straight to ground?. Got everything back together with no arcing on the negative post,starts and runs like it did before
