318D on DC Build Card

I posted a while back about an 318D stamp on the bellhousing of a foot clutch DC. I got the build card today, and it says 318D, too. Any ideas what it means?

Kind of a weird deal - it was a D converted to a DC according to the back of the card.

Changed to Aluminum Pistons and to a DC3 in order to try to sell it. Have no idea what 318 means. You could still order a new D series in 1957. Don
