329 Injection Pump Timing

I have a 329 in a 6600 combine and I was wondering how the pump gets timed to the engine. I would really appreciate it if someone would post the instructions. Thanks.

A 329 in a 6600 can have several different injection pumps.

CDC633-41AL
JDB633AL2415
JDB635AL2446
JDB635MD2803

The CDC pump has a round timing window and is static timed with a pin. Timing advance is adjusted on a running engine with a round plastic degree window.

The JDB pumps have rectangular window and with two lines to line up. Timing advance is adjusted on a running window with a rectangular plastic degreed window. Engine timing advances 2 degrees by 1000 RPM. 10 degrees by 2000 RPM. 12 degrees by 2200 RPM.

(quoted from post at 20:54:29 11/11/11) I have a 329 in a 6600 combine and I was wondering how the pump gets timed to the engine. I would really appreciate it if someone would post the instructions. Thanks.

The 300 series service manual devotes dozens of pages of text and images to timing injection pumps for a reason. A few sentences here on the internet can not convey the same info.

This is all true,,but if you are just interested in removing and replacing the pump, remove the timing window and rotate the engine till the marks line up, then pull the pump. there is also a pin on the right rear side of the engine that can be removed then inverted back into the hole, turn the engine slowly "by hand" with a bit of pressure on the pin till it slips into the hole on the flywheel, this will give you TDC but it could be 180% out for the pump, you may need to rotate the engine another full turn to get the marks in the window to line up, Don"t use the starter to rotate the engine it will bend and bind the timing pin...

No marks to line up if he has the CDC pump. There's a round window and the pump uses a small timing pin - somewhat similar to the bigger pin that gets stuck into the flywheel to find TDC.

Not likely that he has a CDC pump..I have never seen one on a combine...It"s possible but not likely...
