335 Steering Issues

I've got a 57 335 that I bought last year. We had one when I was a kid and finally found one. Got a couple issues but nothing too bad except the steering. The steering wheel will turn almost a complete revolution without moving the front wheels. Is this generally wear in the steering gear itself or is this a problem with the power steering pump? The wheel will turn that far with the tractor running or off.

That may be wear in the steering worm gear and also wear in the splines on the steering shaft knuckle just behind the steering valve up front. Both of my M5s have about 6 or 7 inches of "play" before the front wheels will turn.

I have a 335 and (although nothing to brag about), my steering is not near that bad. Like Alan says, look for worn parts. Don't overlook the universal joints and remember there is a third universal in the steering column just behind the fuel tank.
Also, How are your bushings in the shaft below the steering wheel? On mine they were pretty badly worn. (The previous owner didn't know what grease was.)
