The original subject was "336 rebuild".

Just about done, if it moved and wears it was replaced, sandblasted chute, reinstall kicker, rebuild all parts to it, new hyd pump, all new hardware, new chute guides, knotters replaced parts worn beyond use, new cylinder for tilt, new home routed hydraulic ines for it, factory ones missing, knifes reshimmed sharpened, all new pitamn arm bearings, pin/bushings, feeder forks crank bearings, chains, cluster gear bearing, repaired chute back end, remount wagon hitch prpoer position. Now if weather starts to dry will get to see if all the work was worth it.

Thats a lot of work! I've got to get into the bushing on the pitman on my 336 this year. Going to install the extension hose this time for the grease nipple.

Just bought a 348 to try out, it needs a roller adjusted on the plunger but then ready to go.

also completely tore apart pickup reel, new bearings & shims, all tines, replaced damaged strippers, straighten ones that were bent. Replaced tractor pto cupler(bad joint ruined joint) new u joint. Have all new parts for slip clutch, will rebuild it when done haying this summer.Discs are getting thin.

Lot of work but well worth it. She'll be just like new. Good for thousands of bales now. Grandfather bought our 336 40 years ago and I'm sure there's 400,000+ bales through it. Basically rebuilt over the past five years so I guess we'll bale some more with it. I love sitting on a tractor all afternoon watching that baler eat hay. That's my favorite tractor driving job.

At least the parts are available on the local dealership counter a day after being ordered. Try that with other brands of equipment.

Depends on what dealer you use. bought most parts from dealer in upstate NY state, 97% of parts they stocked. Paid for parts, shipped, had in 2 days. Local JD dealer stocks about nothing, took 3-5 days to get and wanted pre pay because they didn't stock, NY place, didn't want pre pay on items they didn't stock, they are in bigger farm ag area.
