3400 Power steering problem

Quick question:
The manual says that the front line on the right side of the steering valve assembly goes to the inner connection on the right side cylinder. And the rear line goes to the outer connection on the cylinder. Same with the lines on the left side; front to inner, rear to outer. My question is: are the fittings on each cylinder supposed to be facing upwards? On my tractor they are facing up on the right side but facing down on the left side. Just wondering if that's messing me up. I tried to disconnect the cylinders from the drag links, but the nut won't loosen because the threaded shaft it's on just spins with it.
Thanks for the help so far. It's a real test of patience/perseverance.

I can show you how the lines mount to the cylinder on a 3000.

Thanks Hobo. Those pics make it pretty clear. I guess someone had flipped the left side cylinder around on my tractor because the fittings on that side on mine are facing down, not up like yours, which would mean that the inner fitting should really be the outer, and vice versa. Thanks!
