I have happened onto a very nice condition 3414 with IH loader, has been kept inside on the same ranch all its life and used for ranch chores. I remember when these were sold new at gramps' dealership, pretty stout series of tractors. Diesel starts very well, no blue smoke, hydraulics are strong and tight, and it has a 3-spool Gresen valve body added with couplers so one could run a box scraper with tilts and scratchers. Has the fast reverser shuttle drive, diff lock, good rubber, wheel weights, and the power steering works properly. Nice original sheet metal/paint. Able to make a pretty good trade with a mower and cash. Anybody have bad reviews for the 3414? I know the worst part is probably parts availability, but I would not be working it hard, general yard duty, and it's in great shape

Where I went to school the school district had a 3414 loader {no backhoe} they used it mostly for snow removal and other chores. Seemed to be working well, but that was years ago.

Seems to me, there can be a few issues changing out the clutch & a few other repairs, due to the integral loader. Not impossible jobs, just not as easy as with a regular tractor & loader.

Otherwise, the 2*** & 3*** tractors of the 404 series are built pretty tough.

Really like my 2444 & it doesn't owe a penny. Got plenty of work out of it in the short time I've had it.

Indeed. When we had to replace the clutch in our 3444, I was surprised to learn that we had to lift the cab off, set the backhoe off, turn it around in the shop, so that we could then extract the drive train out of the loader frame, which would finally allow us to pull the engine off the drive train!
