35-38 John Deere B

Was the short frame built in all these years? I was always of the impression that it was only 1935 and only for a period? I have a friend who has a 37 B and it has the short frame. I realize things can be pieced together? Just curious. Thanks I have a 1935 Brass Tag with the short frame. S/N 3661, I also have a 38 that just has frame rails long frame.

As correctly stated below the Short frame tractor was replaced in 1937 with the long frame at #42200. So you can have a 1937 short or a 1937 long frame tractor if above this serial number break. All previous un-styled B's had the same length short frame but the first 2000 made in 1935 were the 4 Bolt tractors that had a welded iron fabricated short frame verses the later 1935 which had the short cast iron molded frame like the 1936 and early 1937 had. The early fabricated / unique short frame was only used on the 4 bolt tractors. The late 1937 long frame are harder to find as less of them were built in 1937. I have got all the un-styled years from 1935 through 1938 including the 1935 early 4 bolt. 1936 short, 1937 short, 1937 long and the 1938 long. I like my B's so well I even have two more that are modified pullers we have pulled for many years. My show B is a 1938 B industrial I just had in the 4th of July Parade. My pet un-styled models!

What parts are interchangeable between a 1938 and a 1936. Hood, gas tank, rims, exc?

You should probably make a new post this ones pretty old. hood defiantly not. Tank no as well. The rest of the things to make the tractor longer steering shaft no upper coolant tubes no but would probably work with an extra pipe lower is just a threaded pipe with hose. Shutter control rod no. Pto no 36 is 1 1/8 38 is 1 3/8. Rims yes just about everything else yes
