Hi.

on my 35 the sticker says 35x. But that might not be from when the tractor was made. The front emblem is the massey ferguson. But inside the tachometer it says FE35 and also on the brass plate under the dashboard. According to this page
It is from 62-63.

Is the long number just a parts number?
the 3 or 4 letters beneath ?F4L. Could cpuld that be a date. If it is it will say june 4 1963 Looking at this page
am I on the right track?

On the engine thete are 4 numbers
iMarkup_20240219_140415.jpg

Which one is the date code?

Where on the engine block does it say it is an A3.152?

Can assume this tractor is genuine?

Look on the other side of the engine for the engine serial number. It should be a stamping in a smooth" pad on the block below the head and to the rear of center I believe.

The long-raised number on the transmission is the casting number used by the foundry and manufacturer to identify that casting. It may or may not have been used as a part number after final machining. Casting numbers often are not used as part numbers. You can look up the transmission case in the parts book and see if it was used as the part number. The other number might be a date code.

The D 22 3 looks like a casting date code to me. But like Jim says, it's hard to tell by any of the casting numbers. The stamped numbers are what you should be looking for. steve

Looks like 1980029 C

The D 22 3 what is that. D for diesel and 3 for number of cylinder. 2200 rpm?

The D 22 3 is a casting number, not what you need to identify the engine.

The stamped number you posted the picture of is the engine serial number.

Read the info under the "Pre 1978 engine numbers" heading on the site link below and see what the last sentence says about pre 1966 engine numbers.

anglo-agriparts Perkins info

I just remembered you are in Scandinavia, aren't you? You might add that bit of info to the Location spot in your profile. It would help people as a unit built, other than in the USA, may have some differences. The Perkins engine info would be the same, I would think, but there might be differences.

Yes, added it.

It is common to use an alpha code for month, then day and year. Which would put it being cast April 22nd, of '3 (probably '63) but that is just a wild Axxed guest, and it really doesn't matter, because you have a stamped serial number.

My parents ordered from the Coventry England Factor a new 1963 MF 35 X.

Canada seen hundreds of these beauties arrive..
Over the years, there were 38 HP MF 35's as well as 44 HP MF 35 X

models arrive in Canada with then3 cylinder diesel Perkins engine. All

MF 35 X that were in our farming community were of the 44 HP rating.
There were Type"A" and type "B" Tachometers, depending on the gearing of the PTO / Transmission and HP rating of the Tractor.
NOTE STND. PTO was achieved at a different Engine RPM depending on your model...38 HP or 44 HP...

How do you add your location? I see no place to do that.

1980029 C is the serial # of the Engine. This number tells you if the Engine left the factory with either CAST IRON DRY CYLINDER SLEEVES or CHROME DRY CYLINDER SLEEVES.
YES...It's very important to know the above if and before any SLEEVE / PISTON /RINGS are ordered.

Yes the injectors are vertical.
The Injector's are sized and calibrated specifically for the model of the FUEL PUMP. MF 35 X had an increase in HP buy increasing engine RPM,more fuel from the fuel pump, and larger orifices in the fuel injector tips...and what ever else engineering incorporated.

Thanks for the good reply. Doesnt look too good anymore. Perhaps because is isnt air tight. When weather is humid a lot of condensattion builds up on the inside of the glass. The hour meter is stuck. Unfortunately.
