I will be in the market for a new addition to my collection soon. I have decided to sell my Ford 1947 2N and early-1950 8N to free up funds and space. I have been looking for a 35 deluxe off and on now for about a year. I just got the 85, which is a nice looking tractor with live power and power steering, but is a little large for my needs. I assume the 65 is very simular to the 85 but smaller?? It will be my mainline utility tractor. Does the 65 have diff-lock? Is there a better model out there that is simular to these that has all the options and still has classic body-lines. I don"t like the squared up tin on the later models.

2tractors,

That is what I meant, I want live power. I want it all... I aleady have a TO35 Standard that has a single stage clutch and no power steering.

Are you looking at gas or diesel models? Don't forget the MF50 in there. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a MF50 that my local dealer had last year. It was in pretty good shape and was a Perkins diesel model.

I have apair of 65's they're great little tractors. I use mine to run 9ft haybines. Good on fuel too mine are both diesels. Power sreering, live pto. I have an 85 with a super 90 motor in it, it's quite a different animal from the65.

I have enjoyed owning the TO-35 for years.

you have the size tractor of your old 8N ford, but with the power to pull 3-12" plows.

wish mine had power steering, but the older TO-35's steering was not too bad, unless you had a loader,

a man cannot have too many tools,

if you are in a position to have more than one, then just buy one of every size, then your biggest problem will be deciding which one to drive today.

I like Maxwell's idea! Buy one of each. I did!
How far do you want to travel Dan? On the NW CT Craigslist is a gas 65 with PS and look like decent tires. That is a heck of a place to drag something home from on a trailer, ALL up hill or down, but 2500 sounds reasonable.
Yes they are a step up from a 35, but like the guys here mentioned, you will have power when you need it.
There is a beefy looking workbull in Rhode Island for the same $... but I doubt it has live pto.

Tony, I seen that one on CT a couple weeks back. Said it had mint sheetmetal and diff lock. I haven't looked at it yet. Orchard Hill has one but it's a high arch rowcrop model. I like the styling of the 65.

I may sell my '56 TO35 if I get a live power MF35. The TO30 may go also. Everyone things it is a Ford.....

Orchard Hill has a high model? I know Devon lane has one, but they use it on the farm, so not always in sight. I see OH has a diesel 135 for megabucks. There is a MF40 near Stafford Springs that is as loaded as the price tag... do people take out loans for stuff like this? I don't.
There is someone in??? Glastonbury? He needs everything including help restoring a 35, I was thinking about asking him if he'd rather unload it. There is someone over the NY line, near Chatham NY that was listing all sorts of MF stuff, he had some non runners too. I wouldn't mind having an extra live pto 'arsend' around either.

I am not in a rush. Thinking about placing a 'wanted" add on CL for a machine later this summer. I would even trade the pair of Fords for the right MF. I want to get something just out of service rather than off a fence line.

I just bought the 85, so my play-funds are low. Not to say, if a great deal came along, I wouldn't be able to find the money.
Orchard Hill 65

I was thinking gas, nothing against diesel. I have a 3cyl Perkins in my MF40 Industrial (backhoe/loader)

I have a 1964 model MF35X and a 1962 MF65 both in good condition and use them as utility tractors on a wheat farm. Both have Perkins diesels, 2 stage clutch and diff locks and both are really useful.

As a classic tractor however, the 35 is a far better tractor than the 65. I would rate the 35 as probably the best tractor ever built.

Hi Dan, The 35's are shorter steering and more
manuverable and the 65's are more HD with the
planetary boxes on the outer axle-takes lots of
strain off the drive train. Chuck
