350 and h

I just bought a 350 parts tractor. I may have asked this before but I have brain decay. Will the live pump off 350 bolt to the H.

If the H is mid 1950 or newer yes. (unless the engine has been swapped with an earlier one). The bolt pattern for the pump is different on the earlier H. The timing gear on the earlier H was also not strong enough to support the driving forces often encountered with the hydraulic pump.

so You will need to change the timing cover to the 350 one --I would change the cam and the cam gear along with it -- then it will work good -- Roy

The H I have left is about a 42 I think. Small pto So I know it is early. Not sure if I want to go to a lot of trouble.

Just swap the whole 350 engine into the H.

A 300 or 350 would be a nice improvement over an H. Some have live PTO, live triple valve hydraulics, TA, 12 volt electrics, close to 40 HP, maybe power steering. You could probably sell the H and the parts tractor and buy a nice 300 or 350 for less than an extra $1000.

This! After running a 300 or 350 doing anything that involves the PTO and/or hydraulics you'll wonder why anyone bought an H after 1960.

Just so happens that I bought 2 350's to restore when I retired. Since my copd got too bad for me to mess with them, they've just been sitting in front of my shop. gm

Around the farm your hard pressed to find a better tractor than an H to pull things like wagons and such around. Up here in the north east they are the most common tractor on tobacco farms as they pull loaded tobacco racks just fine. For tasks like that I wouldnt want a more complicated tractor as thats stuff that wont be used. They are also fine mower tractors if you put a 3 point on with an overrunning clutch on the pto. They are super simple and alot cheaper than a 300.
So they still have their place in society.
But yea, anything beyond that is better with even a Super H.

If you mean the PTO, yes. If power steering front, forget it. Unless you don't have the wide front, you don't need the power steering.
