350 dozer update

Well, after getting my eyes cleared up and time spent in the shop I finally got back to my project. I installed new transmission bands, change oil, and hope I adjusted the bands correctly. Raised the front off the floor and jacked the rear end up, tracks moved and stopped. I know that I will need to readjust them later, after I put a few hours on it. Next is to give it another washing, cannot believe all the dirt that I missed, then put the belly pan on ,regrease it, and wait for the work I need to do. Jerry from Ohio

Sounds like you are about ready to put her in the Dirt! did you need the steps on the steering band adjustment? cant remember of you have a SM or ops yet

Tom, I have the service manual for this dozer. I try very hard to have the correct manual for my equipment as you have ,it makes working on them easier. I had a hard time getting the new bands around ,but I did it and they are a little out of shape, that is why I will readjust them after I get some time on it.

I have a 1970 case 350 dozer that I picked up earlier this year not running. Mine runs now and I had a chance to level my driveway before it got too cold.
You will like yours I believe. They take a decent amount of room to turn around as they don't reverse one track but apply power proportionately to both tracks.

I did drive it once after the ground froze and it seemed to turn faster on the hard ground.

They will turn much better if you just apply a light pressure on the steering brake while under throttle then quickly back off the power and on again and it will turn much better, this is because they are are differential steering that maintains power to both tracks all the time, too many just pull the brake as hard and far back as they can which only wears on the brake more,, taught many the trick to them as we sold them new,, it takes a bit of practice but it makes a world of difference in steering speed/effect when you do,, I also have a first year production 350 seen here helping unload a building

Thanks, I will try that next time I am on the dozer.

I have the power tilt blade which has been handy already on the little bit I have used it.

Yours looks good. I like the original colors. Mine was repainted at some point and is more yellow. I am hoping to repaint it when it warms up again
