36 inch zero turn?

Any one have good experience with a 36" zero turn. (gate is only 42").

I have need for a small machine for tight places. Like between bushes.

I already have a 54" JD all wheel steer and two 60" Swisher tow mowers, but now find my old legs complaining about following a self propelled walk behind mower and with a new to me lawn in town where grass worshippers live, I think I want to ride.

Half of lawn slopes significantly, though, and the 100 x110 lawn minus house, driveway and carport, really poohs me out.

I don't see good reports on the Ryobi electric, so want to stay with gas, I think.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't have a 36 inch, but I do have an Ariens 40 inch. One thing I don't like is the deck is not any wider than the tires. Because of that, it won't get under fences or shrubs or anything like that. Maybe
all zero turns are that way? I also have a rider with a 46 inch deck, and that will mower under things the zero turn won't. That might not matter in your situation, and other than the only mowing the width
of the tires it mows well.

We have the same complaint about our 42" Z turn JD. The mower deck is hardly wider than the rear tires, so if you try to mow around a tree, the rear tire rubs. We should of gotten a 48"

have a Husqvarna cz3815. My yard is a little over a half acre, and this is the perfect size. It can go down into the ditch by the road without getting hung up like a larger deck would. This is a homeowner's model probably sold new at Home Depot or Lowes, so not heavy duty in any way, but it's all I need.

I had a Gravely 48" zero turn. Just sold it. I too did not like that the deck was about even with the rear wheels. Always getting the left rear tire hung up on something. I also did not like being able to have my arms free to push branches out of the way. I had a small JD rear engine rider one time I got in some of my wheeling and dealing it was like 36" or 40 " ? it was a decent mower but too small for me. You might like one of those better than a zero turn as your arms are free to move branches out of the way.

I sold several 30 ztr units and they worked fine for what you want to do. tight trimming okay, nev er had any complaints on them. they would be orange now instead of blue

Does anyone know the model of the smallest JD all-wheel steer? My X534 has been quite useful out here on the prairie, complete with snowblower.

But to get it through that 42" gate......

Well a wider gate would change the solutions and I will get an estimate on that and balance that expense.

This will be a rental house until we can downsize out here on the acerage.

The storage space at the end of the carport isn't too big and I had hoped to dicker with the renter to take care of the yard with my equipment, so I would want something of the quality I would expect for myself. Small, tight turning, not too pricey and maybe a snow blower attachment, too. How about a JD X304 (or smaller?). Probably have to widen the gate in the nice play yard which I hope will attract a renter at my price. ???? Leo

NO!

Now that the question is answered, my reasoning is my first ZT was a new 2005 44" Hustler with a Honda 18 V Twin and it has been totally trouble free
(battery, and tires only thing needed). It takes forever to mow the yard. My wife wanted it and I sometimes used it....she wanted to mow the yard, usually
wouldn't let me....not that I was too lazy....I like to mow.......nice thing about smaller machines is they are quiet.

Largest is a Ferris 61" deck, 26 Vanguard BS. Get that much machinery moving and it can't help but make noise, but it cuts fast. One thing I noticed is
that the frame width vs deck width can be a factor in leaving "holidays" in the corners when you mow in the box pattern.....mow around in square circles
with the discharge into the cut grass. I have a 52" also and the extra width of the 61" deck reaches out and clips the corners, and you can run the 61 up
under fencing reducing the need for trimmer follow up.

I mow about a three acre cemetery. I bought a Toro 32" for $2399 last summer. It works very well getting between all the monuments, concrete curbs, trees.

In 2017 and 18. I helped the former caretaker mow. He used two Toro 32" mowers. He did not treat his mower well. Left them outside all winter long. Only problems he ever had were his own fault from poor maintence. He was so tight. He didn't have a trailer. We drove the his mowers a mile and a half to the cemetery!
