Saw a reply from you yesterday and hoped you made it through the worst of it. I tried to look on local.live.com but couldn't get a good handle on what is 5 miles in from the beach. You sure are right about subdivisions going in! It's either those or ravines from what I could tell in your area. My wife called a relative in Imperial Beach last night and she said the smoke and soot was really bad and the closest fire was 13 miles. The smoke clouds on the satellite view are almost unbelievable.

Yesterday evening the fire changed directions. Good for me, but bad for others. There is what we call the Escondido creek. If the fire was to get into that it would have a path to our area, but the fire dep, and the wind changing direction stoped it. The wife came home yesterday with the 4 cats, and two dogs. I moved the horses back yesterday also. I can't emagine comming back to a totally burned house as so many are experiencing to day. The fire is still burning real bad to the north of us.
