39 and 40 B mounted plows

Hi all,
I have a 39 and 40 B, both with integral mounted 2 way plows. My question is the position of the gage wheels. Both of mine have the gage wheels mounted to the rear on the inside next to the land sides. Pictures of original plows have the gage wheels mounted on the outside to the front next to the coulter. Is the an explanation for this? Is there a performance advantage one way or the other? Picture of my plow is on page 4 from the 17 th when inquiring about model number.
Thanks Sam

The ones on my plow are set up like it shows in the books. My friends is set up like your is. I do not think it makes any difference.

If you have the wheel n the front, like original be careful with your depth and leveling adjustments. Mine got caught on the drawbar and bent the hanger. I have mine on a 37 A but I have the early 35 plow, that is only stamped deere and not John Deere and the early frames had 622 the later ones had 649
