3910 Remote Hydraulics

A neighbor called and wants to add a remote to his 3910 to run his log splitter. He will only use the remote for the splitter. Where can I plumb in for pressure and return? I want to put the control valve at the splitter. Therefore the two hoses would have quick disconnects for when he is not using the remote. Thanks for your help.

Though this can be done it is not a good idea due to small pump capacity and excessive engine HP and fuel usage for splitting wood.

Talk him out of it as he will be very disatisfied with the cycle time unless he uses a PTO driven pump.

ditto on the low cycle times.

search surplus shop for a cheap-er pto pump and fab up a resevoir and the plumbing.. you will be much happier with it.

If he insists he wants to try it I would use a hydraulic block available from this site. Even thouth the 3910 is not listed it will work as the remote valve for the 3000 and 3910 with single pump is the same.

Depends on how the 3910 is setup presently... A lot of the 3 cylinder 10's had the closed center valves... though they could be had either with the CC or the old open center... or nothing at all.
A picture of the area under the seat would speak a thousand words right now...

Best option is to add a motor and pump directly to the splitter.

I can run my splitter about all weekend on as much fuel as any one of my tractors burns in an hour. And I don't have to put hours on the tractor and listen to it run all day.
