3930 ford tractor

I have a ford 3930 (1995)tractor 2wheel drive that is turbo charged. Did all the 3930's come turbo charged or was it an option? Is the turbo more or less desirable ?

Turbocharging came along at the very end of 3930 production as a result of fuel emissions standards which were implemented in January 1998 in North America. No power increase resulted. It's not a particularly big deal either way, but I don't consider an emissionized 3930 more desirable than a non-emissionized 3930. When ordering fuel system parts and fuel filters, be sure to specify your unit code so you get the correct parts. A factory turboed 3930 should be a 1998 or later.

Agree with Rick.
You need to check for the engine date code on the upper right front mounting ear (just in front of the fuel pump) so you figure out what year you have.
Early 3930's came with 201 engines. Mid runs came with 192's and late (emissioned) came with 192 turbo's.
IIRC, from looking through the parts books on the subject, the only real differences in the turbo vs N/A engines were the turbo related parts... the turbo itself, the exhaust and intake plumbing and the fact that the turbo block is tapped for oil supply and returns. There ~might~ have been ONE keystone ring on the pistons (but I don't think there was) and the rest was the same other than what they mucked up for emissions.
The 3 cylinder never got the full turbo treatment like the 4 cylinders did with stronger rods, pistons and nitrided crank...

It's also possible that you have a tractor previously owned by a rebel like me who added a turbo... Then only he (mabey) and the lord knows what you have.

I have a desire to have a turbo on mine, which is why I researched the subject... but this one's going to 65+ HP when it gets done. Something you probably don't want to do, and would probably be no use to you on a 2WD.
