3PH Drawbar Pictures

Somehow, I lost the pictures somewhere between preview and submit. Hopefully they're here now.

The FORD part number for the 11-Hole Drawbar is 9N-5182. Look in all your MPC's. The part was used up at least thru the Hundred Series Models, maybe beyond, I'm not
sure if the Thousand Series Models used it as well. The first early 9N's had the FORD script logo as well as the part number in cast raised characters as you show.
The circled (P) & 20 are just foundry markings, probably forging die machine numbers and means nothing today. When Henry Harry Ferguson went to Coventry, England to
build his TE20 in 1946, he used the 9N blueprints to copy designs and many parts carried over the FORD part numbers, minus the FORD prefix. Some parts had to be altered
in order to avoid copyright infringement. The 5182 drawbar was one. The Ferguson drawbar used only NINE holes, not eleven and still used the 5182 part number. I have 3
original FORD drawbars and a FERGUSON 9-Hole drawbar marked with [HF] Harry Ferguson, and the p/n 5182. As the years passed the logo and p/n were deleted and also many
aftermarket companies could now make them too as patents expired. The 5182 drawbar is still made and sold today.

Tim, it's funny you mention the Harry Ferguson drawbar.
I had a perfect one which I sold about 20 years ago to a guy named Paul Nelson in New Mexico for his absolutely gorgeous "green belly" Ferguson. That was a match made in heaven!
He sent me this picture after he rec'd. the drawbar.

I forgot to mention, if you don't already know, that the 9N-5182 11-Hole Drawbar was part of a Shipping Parts Kit, p/n 2N-17003, released in 1943, and issued with each
new tractor. In addition to the drawbar, the kit included the two Linch Pins & Rings; The Two Stay Bars; The WARNING badge and safety lockout device; the 9N-17040 hand
Crank; the 9N-17014 Plow Wrench; and the 01A-17017-B Spark Plug/Head Bolt Wrench. This kit was used up thru all 2N & 8N Production. In SEP 1952 whenteh NAA Model was
released, the shipping parts kit was revamped to p/n NAA-17003 as the hand crank now used the NAA-17040 Hand Crank and the 9N-17040 crank was obsolete, and the 2C-
17017-A Spark Plug Wrench and handle, 2C-17094-A, was now used as the OHV Red Tiger Engine made its' debut. The new spark plug tool was a stamped steel socket wrench
with a piece of 3/8 bar stock as the handle. I'm sure many were lost. The 01A-17017-B 'suitcase handle' sparkie was still issued as the 11/16 and 13/16 sizes were used
on other fasteners as well. The new NAA shipping/parts kit was issued up thru the Hundred Series too. I'm not sure if there was parts kit with the Thousand Series
Models, maybe Ultradog can better answer that question. FWIW & FYI: The 9N-17014 Plow Wrench and the 01A-17017-B Spark Plug/Head Bolt wrenches were the ONLY tools that
were issued with each new tractor from April, 1940 thru all Hundred Series production. You could get the toolkit, p/n 9N-17004 as an optional dealer accessory that
consisted of a tool bag; the two small open ends wrenches, the plier, and the screwdriver. The Ford Adjustable (Monkey) Wrench was obsolete in vehicle toolkits
beginning in 1946, but were available as a dealer accessory as well. Contrary to the beliefs of many, all N's and after did not come with a toolkit. Only the early 9N's
issued a complete toolkit and then some -grease gun, tire inflator, and jack. A brown canvas storm cover may have been included as well but I suspect it was an option
too.
