I'd like to get a 3 pt. hitch for my 49 A. Any recommendations out there on which one people have liked?
Thanks in advance for your time.

There are occasionally some of these out there at auctions and/or on photo ads on here or 2cyl FB group. Made by Saginaw Tractor Parts in Saginaw MI . Discontinued now because of cheap light weight competition. They were around $ 450- $ 500 when they did sell few yrs back. Best ones out there IMHO. Provisions for two stab bars if needed and are cat 1 and 2 by rotating balls. Beefy unit. I've seen them around for $ 350 or so. Fits A-B-G

Not as pretty as Randy's, but <a href="https://youtu.be/k63x3K_3AM4?list=PLCUEeGboEbi9lZeitHoI9GA2HKYB2_Zyg">same design and still functional</a> on Nancy's 48A.

I have used several different brands of aftermarket hitches. The trouble I found was they all did not really work "right". The geometry just was not totally correct. So some implements would work OK and others would not lift correctly. If your just going to use the three point a little then you will be fine. IF you think it will be like a modern OEM tractor's three point then you will be disappointed.

A's don't have a lot of weight on the front end so heavy stuff doesn't work well on a 3 pt hitch.

I always got along fine with the 800 series JD hitches on my B's and 50's ? I had an aftermarket one on of the B's and it had the arms stick back farther making the light front end problem worse.

selling all of my John Deere stuff. too old to work on them anymore. I have a complete 801 hitch with all the original parts that I just sandblasted prep to paint and then sell. I would like to get close to the general appraised price i have seen at some auctions. I also have aftermarket upper arms and a welded ip monstrosity sort of like pictured here that actually worked quite well. I am in SW MI and often go to some tractor/farm shows. I am planning to go to the upcoming Ionia Farm show this coming weekend I think. Bill Teunessen, Lowell, MI 616 319 1798
