4 Row Cultivator

I'm restoring a 1949 JD Model B and looking for a 4 row cultivator for it.

Anyone have one for sale or know where I might find one?

If you can't locate a 4 row cult & would settle for a 2 row there one for sale on YT classified ads(ad #903459) that's located in Kentucky. If interested be sure quik-tach is the correct with for a "B"

He should be OK for show and parade purposes. As far as hitting the field I would say two rows would be ideal. Somebody told me years ago about guys making a plate up to stiffen the stamped steel frame but do not remember the details. Not sure how it would be done.

A late B will easily handle 4 rows. I have seen a 6 row on a late B on flat ground.

I am in the Seattle area but will travel almost any where in the USA to pick one up that is the correct one. The tractor I'm restoring has spent many hours with a 1949-1954 4 row cultivator on it

Low gear, shallow depth, and light soil probably. Productive speed, in the ground a few inches, and moderately heavy to heavy soil it will be a real struggle and may not even do it. Either way good rear tires will be a key and the stamp frame area of the tractor will need to be reinforced. If the one late B nearby was not such a pain to go look at I would go to it to figure out how a person would reinforce that area.

A late square axle A over in the junk yard. Pretty easy to run a plate to stiffen the mid-point of the stamped steel frame. Much more difficult to reinforce the very back by the engine block. Not impossible but a lot more effort and material. Good to know that people have seen a late B with a 4 row cultivator. Tough soil around here would be a limiting factor.

Do you have any photos? Do you happen to know which model they are? Are they the early models without the depth gauge wheels on each section?

Absoulty no problem with power or traction and no wories on strengthing frame. Only thing is hydrolic could struggle with fully equiped 4 roe to raise. We did not have the lift spring assist as was with the hand lift cultivators for earlier tractors but it could be installed and help with lift of fully equiped heavy cultivator. But with it set for 30" rows no lift problems.

A neighbor used to push a 4 row cultivator with a late B. He ran wide open throttle in a gear that matched the same speed an A would run at part throttle but he got the job done.

Must be this part of the US as I never saw a B with a 4 row cultivator. I came along as cultivating was fading away but went to numerous auctions where B's and cultivators were sold.
