Drove down the road early a few mornings ago to find someone did a 2 acre figure 8 in our corn field. Called sheriff to look at, did some detective work on my own and figured out who did this but I cant prove it. Anyone else had this problem, what would you do?

Don't do as Hoss has said it will get you in to trouble. Now what you can do is a good fence or if you have thorn trees in your area cut some limbs off of them and lay them around the area they come in at . They will soon have tire problems and if your lucky they will have them in your field then you have them dead to rights on it. Sad how now days people don't respect other peoples land. You can also put an ad in the paper for a reward to who ever can be an eye wittness as to who has done it so you can pres charges

Borrow one of those spike apparatus that the police use and you may catch them with flat tires.

PS: Or make your own using boards and nails.

Don't do as Hoss suggested. There's a man in Baltimore charged with murder for shooting a man stealing the tires and wheels off his car. They should've given him a medal since they won't waste
the taxpayers money trying him in court and keeping him in jail. Hal

that happened to the man who rents my corn ground. one of the farms he rents belongs to guy from chicago area. a couple of years ago the guys son and friends brought their 4 wheelers out here and tore up a corn feild.
he found out who did it and called the punks dad.
dad knew punk and co. had went 4 wheeling but didn't known where. when he foud out what happened he knocked a bunch off of the rent paid for damages and told neighbor i promise you it won't happen again.
i think he took sonny's play toy away from him.

Whatever you decide to do, be careful. Had a neighbor same thing happened to some years back. Didn't happen once, came back to repeat a few times. Eventually he caught them red handed one night as they were doing it, and called the sheriff. Law said that he could impound the vehicle, which he did, right there. Took a dozer and plowed dirt mounds up to the front and rear bumpers so that the truck couldn't and wouldn't be moved, leaving it on display for anyone else that might get the same idea. The next night, someone stripped the truck clean and he had to pay for damages. The law also said that since he impounded it, he was also responsible for its safety and care. Ended up costing him a lot more than the damage that they did to the crops. Just doesn't seem fair, but I'm not a lawyer whom would successfully argue, and did, that it was. Personally, I'd say that paybacks are a b...., but would advise against getting caught if you choose to go that route. Can't prove it? You'll think of something. Good luck.

Many years ago a buddy of mine had a grandfather who had kids taking their cars and running through his corn. Well the farmer decided to push large boulders out in the field and then one night the kids are out running through the corn and then WHAM! Smashed up car The farmer removed the car by pushing it to the road for them. Some kids are so damn stupid.

Many crop hail policies (not MPCI) cover "VMM", which is vandalism and mischievious mischief. I am a crop ins. claims supervisor and have paid quite a few claims for this type of damage.

Hoss, it is a federal offense to rig any type of booby trap for any reason. Not to mention that these are likely dumb kids that just need a good trip to the wood shed and to pay an outrageous restitution price. It certainly isn't grounds for killing them.

Hal, a 19 year old shot and killed a repo man who was driving away in his car, here in Lexington just a couple days ago. He must have been a good shot, as he hit him twice while he was driving away. With a pistol. This lad is now in jail charged with murder.

Hey guys,Iwas just being silly. But ido like the idea with the rocks.Up here in Maine we have lots of 4 wheeler trails and snomobile trails, hundreds of miles actually ;over mts, around swamps, through swamps and through beautiful woods, but you always get some jerk that wants to tear up lawns and golfcourses etc. no,Iwouldnt shoot someone for that but senseless crap like this burns my you know what.

DISCLAIMER: This is how I would do it. By reading further, you agree that this is a suggestion and is not to be carried out as my responsibility if you do this and someone gets hurt/killed

I'd get up some good electric fence so only a small portion, a few feet is opened to the road. Then call up your buddies and put no tresspassing signs up all over the place. Then get them to get their trucks and work out a plan. Like when, for example-Bill has his truck in the woods, he sees the punks and aleatrs you, say with a CB. He then moves his truck to block the escape to the road. You, Doug and martin use your trucks to chase them up to the roadblock, then when the kids cant get the ATVs through your trucks, calmly confront them and ask what the hell theyre doing. Then have a Cell Phone, call each of their parents and have then come get their kids. Point out to them all the No tresspassing signs, the fence, and the trouble you want through to get them. Point out all the damage to the corn. etc.

Hal, he may get off. Last year KY passed a law simular to the one in Texas. You now have the right to defend your property. The repo man was doing a favor for a buddy who was to big a coward to go get it himself. Everyone should pay their bills, but repossesions should be done in the presence of the police with proper paper work.

I think Old has the right idea. Also if you do catch them call the police immediately. If you hold them against their will and don't call the police. You may find yourself in bigger trouble than the kids.
