40 Series Draft Control

Hi all, I have a Ford 5640 (Blue Roof) SL, mechanical transmission, and manual draft control. With the lift arm height lowered to minimum the arms still don’t drop low enough to hook up to me disc mower. Adjusted the draft control but didn’t seem to make any difference. Is there something I’m missing?

Try raising them back up, then v e r y slowly move your quadrant lever down.

I’ve read on some 40 series forums that the draft control lever should be ran 3 notches below max, ever heard of this or why?
