40 utility

I have a 1958 john deere model 40 utility it is in its original paint and tires condition is quite good may want to leave original because of the condition what is the tractor worth it is missing the three point hitch

There was only 2 modal years for the 40 U, 1954 & 1955.

Much reduced when the 3pt hitch is missing. Tractors of that size are usually used with. Cat I 3pt hitch equipment .
Fenders and pto shield still there?

If it was built in 1953 - smaller steering wheel, one piece nose grill - it's worth an extra $200.

I'm assuming it has the rockshaft assembly, but not the parts for the load links, etc. If it does not have the hydraulic pump (as some highway tractors did not) subtract $1500.

If it does not have the drawbar, subtract $250.

Otherwise, it's a $2300 tractor.
