400 power steering

I can't seem to get an answer on whether or not I can use the hydraulic supply lines from the eagle hitch to power the power steering box on my big 400 (I never plan to use the hitch). So, I'm looking for a power steering pump and reservoir and lines. Can anyone recommend somewhere to find a reasonably priced power steering pump for one of these tractors? I've also read that the power steering pumps from other models are interchangeable with my 400. Anyone care to shed some light on that for me? Thanks for any help.

There's 2 styles of pumps. One has a short resivoir and one has a tall. The short ones mount on the LH side and were found on 400-700-800-900 tractors, maybe some 30 series too. You can't switch to a RH mounted pump because there's not enough room, tried it. They're on eBay. I would not run it off the hydraulics.

Howdy neighbor! I live in Whitewater and work in Union Grove. I"m through your part of the world often.

Is this what the power steering box looks like on anyone else's tractors?

That's quite a drive to work everyday! If you have a standard tractor that looks like the power steering cylinder from the side. Got a picture from farther away?

I will get a picture. The lines shown run over to the cylinder on the right side. The box shown is on the left side and moved by the arm from the steering gear.

Anyone know where to get a pump?

actually, I did switch mine to the right side and it works but it is a bit close for the oil fill. Need a funnel.

Just flip the mounting bracket over and bolt so its on the left side. I think the short brace will need to be modified too.

It is a GIANT pain to monkey with the hoses around the generator/alternator. Not one of cases better ideas.
