400 Super diesel

I just brought home the case that my Dad left the family when he passed in June of 07. Sitting outside for five years has taken quite a tole on her, but I put a fresh battery in her, replaced the oil in the intake filter, checked the dipstick, cracked the throttle, pushed the starter button and I think it turned over twice and was running.
Now she"s home and boy I"ve got some work ahead of me. My Uncle Bruce and Dad always wished the two hydralic connections diddn"t weep and drip. Well, now they are so rusted they don"t leak a drop. Seat no longer will hold enough water to get your pants wet. The good news is, the breaks work, the hitch raises, and over all she is in decent working order. I"m sure it will work fine for taking the neices for a fall hay ride.
I know I should change the oils and fluids. Is there anything special I should check ?
I"ve got pictures to show, but dinner is ready and I"d better not miss that.

check the trans for water due to sitting outside and would guess the trans shifter boots are bad, if you run them with H20 in there it can take out the reverse idler shaft brgs,,cnt

I will check the boots and for water. thanks for the tip.

As with ANY PSB injection pump, plz add a good fuel additive to lube the pump. Todays low sulfur fuel fuel is lacking this. Pump are hard to come up with and very expensive. Is your tractor serial number over or under 8106131? Supers are after this #. I don't see the cultivator holes in the side grill, is why I ask. Nice tractor.

Nice old tractor. I just resurrected a Farmall 350D that sat out in the weather for 7 years. When I drained the trans/diff the fluid looked like thin mud. Good advice to drain it.

You"ll probably avoid some problems if you just go ahead and drain the fuel and clean and replace the fuel filters. Then I"d at least look inside the tank with a good strong light. If there"s much crud and varnish, I"d go ahead and take it off and clean it.
I"ll be there"s water in the bottom of the primary filter housing if you can get the drain screw loose, which would be a first for one that"s sat for a while.....

Thanks for the tip about the fuel additive. The serial # is 8081001. It has "400 super" decals, that are faded away, on the sheet metal mid-way between the fuel tank and the radiator. I don't really know much about it. I am glad to have it. Any help or advice is appreciated.
