400 Years Old Beer

Hello,

This company has been at it for awhile! Bottles come in handy for home brewing. Any one brew their own? One family member just started,

I made some a year or 2 or 3 ago. Got one of those kits when it was on sale but for what it cost do not figure it is worth it. I'd love ot get set up where I could make a lot of it but well that runs into a lot of $$

I was told that it is not cheaper then buying beer. But If you can do it in more quantity, rather then small back, it may be?

I thought that you meant you had a 400-year old beer! I don't think I would want to drink that one. I found a Budweiser once from a 20 year old camping trip that actually wasn't too bad. lol

Back in the eighties I used to get them for a quarter at the flea mkts and give them to the SIL for making home root beer

Ya the small kits are costly but I have heard if you can do it by the gallons as in say 15-30 at a time the cost goes down a lot but that takes up a lot of room

I haven't brewed for awhile now, but used to. There was a wine supply store that had an Englishman on staff who knew more about beer than anyone I've ever met. He recommended simple recipes, procedures and equipment. Brewing should be simple, easy, stress-free, and above all, FUN. It is not cheaper than commercial beers, but you can tailor your brews to your personal taste. I prefer English or Scottish style beers that are low in alcohol. Use fresh, good quality ingredients and above all, be absolutely fussy about cleanliness. Have fun and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Heard a trivia question once that said that the most common breakfast drink in Germany back about that time was beer.

What new discovery replaced beer as a favorite breakfast drink back then?
