I have the same tractor. I like your paint job. I would very much be interested in what you come up with and your assessment of the manual steering if you get it figured out. A while ago there were posts addressing this issue but I don't think pictures were ever posted. Incidentally the parts manual does show two different front pedestal arms, one for manual and one for power but I don't see anything else to illustrate the drag link to be used.No its OEM its a early 1964 row crop.
Not needed and the joints are very loose and the pump makes working on stuff more complicated.Neat tractor, but why in the world do you want to take the power steering off.
I have a 961 with the same power steering and I really like it. My 851 & 641 don't have power steering and I wish the did.
Do you happen to have a photo of the conversion?Yes it is factory P/S setup for a row crop, my cylinder was leaking bad and the valve was messed up on my 961 so I removed the P/S off my tractor. I found a used drag link off a manual steering row crop and removed the P/S cylinder and drag link along with the hoses off the pump. then capped the fittings on the pump and removed the pump belt. The pump is still on the tractor. I don't have a loader on the tractor anymore so it does steer pretty decent. I didn't change anything else. Did this several years ago.
Swap out the drag link and cylinder for a manual steering drag link and take thebbelt off the p/s pump. Remove the pump and lines if you want. That's it.I have a early 4000 with power steering I would like to remove it and change it to manual steering. What parts would I need and from what model would I need them from?

I totally forgot abut the row crops when I made my reply.No its OEM its a early 1964 row crop.
Not needed it seems they sell after market links for this but not shire what one is needed.If you want I could take a picture of it but not much to see and there is still a loader bracket on the 961 so it kind of blocks the view. The tractor is tucked in a shed but I will get it out into the light and take a picture if you really want to see it.

I see ones for 4 cylinder all purpose models, 3 cylinder SU models, 3 cylinder all purpose models with both the assist cylinder and integral p/s systems... but nothing for a 4 cylinder rowcrop.Not needed it seems they sell after market links for this but not shire what one is needed.
I canceled my order thanks for the heads up. Probably will have to keep an I on Ebay.It won't work. I just measured my 641 & 961. The 641 is 10 inches shorter and a completely different item. The row crop is much heavier and has different fittings on each end.

That is the row crop factory power steering. The general purpose/utility version had a cylinder on both sides. 900, 901, and 4000 row crop all had that power steering system. From what I remember it was standard equipment on the row crop versions (900 ,901, early 4000 row crop). The downside of that PS system is some parts no longer available and not many people will work on the valve and cylinder.That appears to be an after market power steering setup for a 4 cylinder 4000. The factory power steering had a cylinder on both sides of the tractor and the control valve was inside the steering column. Your picture doesn't show what he other end of that cylinder connects to off of the right side of the picture or how. Those types of power steering conversions generally add a link between the two spindles under the tractor. It depends on which after market power steering system it has as to what parts can simply be removed and which other original manual steering parts you might need to find and install to get everything back to the original factory manual steering.
