4000 sos pto problem

the pto will not stop even when you try force it also hooked up the bush hog to it same thing any help on how to adjust it is greatly apreaceated thanks

You really need the Ford shop manual to begin to work on this. However, the cable is adjusted correctly when the handle hits its stop at the same time the operator in the transmission hits its stop as well.

DO NOT attempt to remove the transmission top cover and/or adjust the selector or PTO cable until you have a proper manual and have read and understood the proper procedures.
