What is the difference between a 4000 and a 4000SU?
The front axle, steering, and bolster, and rear wheel/tire size.
SU's typically have 24" or 28" rear tires, while regular 4000's usually have 30" or skinny 38" rears. SU' also have a swept back front axle like a 2000 or 3000, and the bolster and twin drag link steering that goes with it. Regular 4000's have a different bolster, straight axle, and single drag link + tie rod steering setup.

Thanks, $4000SU went for $3500 at an auction. I thought it was a hell of a deal with a bucket and in good shape. I have a %000 and a Jubilee.

The lighter front axle and steering on the SU makes it nimbler and it has a tighter steering radius than the regular 4000, but that front axle setup is not designed for heavy loader work. I would much rather have a regular 4000 than an SU for a loader tractor, unless you only use it for mucking stalls where the bucket loads aren't that heavy and you need the tighter turning capability.
