4010 pto noise

My 4010 has a terrible banging noise when I engage the PTO, it turns over under it"s own power, but when I turn the shaft by hand it won"t turn over all the way before it hits something hard...WHAT DID I BREAK?!

Remove inspection cover under clutch housing and look at PP. Are the 4 attaching bolts on the rear stub shaft tight? The tiny shift pins(parts Key #32) have a history of bending/breaking. Possible roller brgs in the 2 gears(parts keys #16 & #19) could have failed.

There is a strong chance the PTO shift pin is binding up against the housing...this would be in the second split area , the one behind the clutch housing #32

Thanks guys, I kinda suspected this and as a matter of fact the pin has broken once before but it just stopped working all together, so I just wanted to ask before I started tearing into something I didn"t need too.

If your not going to need the 1,000 RPM side I would consider blocking it in 540,, I thought I had some pics of how I do it,,but can't seem to find them right now,, if that's what you want to do I can help you with it..
