4010 starting issue

I have a 4010 converted to 12 volts system. Has always started easily.Turn the key turns over maybe once or twice then just quits turning over. Batteries show 12.6 volts a piece getting tha at the starter. I am guessinI have a starter issue. Appreciate any thoughts or other suggestions

With trans in neutral, preferably with traction clutch pedal depressed can one short from small terminal marked S on solenoid to top post & get starer to engage, rotate engine flywheel? If not already installed you could install a starter relay similar to a kit JD offered.

One of my tractors did that a week ago. I put the charger on it all afternoon and it still did it. I cleaned the battery terminals and that did the trick.

I agree battery cables & connections are often overlooked when diagnosing/repairing no start problems. Where battery ground cable attaches to frame is normally overlooked also/
