4010 throttle

I have a 4010 that won't throttle up past 1500 rpm's. It was on the blink and then just quit going full throttle. The throttle lever pulls back all the way with the knob on the end going in/out for idling. I manually pushed the governor linkage to see if it would rev higher, it did. Anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.

Gas and diesel throttle linkages are similar except that gas governor is on LH side of engine, and diesel injection pump is on RH side of engine.

There's a LOT of levers and linkages and a spring or two involved so the throttle foot pedal can work.

LOTS of stuff there to wear or break or unhook.

You are going to have yo get your face up close and personal to the access hole in the steering pedestal armed with a good light and see where the motion is being lost.

If you haven't already, go to https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/ and find Parts Catalog PC691 on you can look at parts drawings for either gas or diesel.

I did take the steering wheel off and the throttle lever and collar. I need to peek down and see if anything is out of place sounds like. Thanks
Wore Out.

This just occurred to me... is the foot throttle stuck partway down and not returning?

(NOT sure all versions had the foot throttle???)

(quoted from post at 18:52:21 06/26/21) I don't have the foot throttle, just the throttle lever on steering column.

That is strange, I was thinking all new gen tractors had foot throttle so they can be operared at 2500 Rpm on the road.

My brothers 4010 needed the universal joint gizzies
replaced up inside the steering column area. They aren't
in a real accessible place, so they are still in the
bag.
The wear in those joints is quite bad & allows for lots
of play between the throttle lever & the governor.
I suppose I'll be the one to replace them. And that's
the way it was----200 years ago. [Bicentennial minute].
